anCnoc is a rather curious whisky. You see, this fine single malt is created using traditional production methods. It’s just that we use them to make a refreshingly modern whisky. (Something that’s reflected in our contemporary bottle design and packaging today.)

The end result is a lighter-tasting single malt that doesn’t compromise on quality.

From our history to the way we make the whisky, this is the place where you can get the lowdown on everything anCnoc.

Glenglassaugh Distillery is an iconic single malt Scotch whisky distillery located just beyond the boundary of the Speyside region in the north-east of Scotland, close to the small town of Portsoy and picturesquely sited high above the dramatic Sandend Bay. Local barley and good supplies of pure water ensure that whisky of the highest quality is made here.

Glenglassaugh was founded in 1875 by a local entrepreneur and his two nephews. In 1892 the distillery was sold to the Highland Distilleries Company who owned and operated it for many years.

Unlike most other single malts Glengoyne has been preserving the essence of its flavour for decades by using air-dried barley rather than barley dried using harsh peat smoke. The result is a more subtle, complex whisky in which all of the delicate flavours are freely allowed to express themselves.

The making of Single Malt Scotch Whisky is governed as much by the law as it is by tradition. So why does Auchentoshan’s flavour stand so far apart? There are two main answers – the skill of our mash men and still men, and our insistence on time-old methods, such as wooden washbacks and triple distillation for every single drop.

We're one of only a few distilleries anywhere which still produces its own floor malted barley, hand-turned by traditional wooden malt shovel. For our whiskies we draw water from the Laggan River, with its rich peaty overtones, and it's the same Islay peat that fires the malt drying kiln.

The Dalmore Distillery has been producing exceptional single malt whisky since 1839 and, for almost a century, was owned by the Clan Mackenzie. The clan’s defining influence on the distillery is still evident to this day, with the iconic royal stag’s antlers – taken from the Mackenzie family crest – adorning each and every bottle of The Dalmore.

Nurtured for sixteen long years, this is the whisky of choice for the people of Jura. It’s a subtle malt - unassuming, understated yet intriguing. Qualities often attributed to the Diurachs themselves. Understandably, the islanders are drawn to it above all others. To honour this unique bond, the symbol of the Diurachs adorns each and every pack.

Rich & full-bodied with hints of citrus fruit and toffee Flavours of dark chocolate combined with oranges and spices leave a sweet toffee and honey finish. Gold Best in Class at the 2010 IWSC Awards.

For the people of Jura, Origin is the water of life.

A Fine single Highland malt Tullibardine Distillery nestles at the foot of the Ochil Hills in Perthshire, where the Highlands of Scotland begin. These hills are renowned for the crystal purity of their spring water.

The Distillery draws its water from the same source which fed the first public brewery in Scotland and from where King James IV purchased beer to celebrate his coronation in 1488. Today Tullibardine (built on the site of the brewery) reigns supreme as a fine malt whisky of majestic qualities. It is considered “Eminently quaffable”.

Our distillery – Speyside’s smallest - is located on the outskirts of the ancient market town of Forres, in north-east Scotland. Just two experienced distillers passionately hand-craft Benromach using the finest Scottish barley and the purest spring water from the nearby Romach Hills. They personally ensure that only the highest quality spirit is filled into sturdy oak casks before being left to mature at Benromach for many years.

Only when it has matured to our highest quality standards do we bottle it and proudly label it – Benromach Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

We are the most Westerly of the Scottish distilleries and can be found in Uig, on the west coast of the Hebridean Isle of Lewis, the Outer Hebrides. Abhainn Dearg, (pronounced Aveen Jarræk) or Red River Distillery is a very new distillery in an ancient landscape.

The spirit we produce today might be new to the market, but the philosophy and history of our distilling goes back hundreds of years. At Abhainn Dearg that age old experience has been garnered for the knowledge of distilling fine whisky never left our shores, it’s just taken till now to re-claim our heritage and produce a true Outer Hebridean Whisky for the rest of the world to enjoy.

Two Scotsmen were in a bar...

This bar was in Manhattan, and the two men were reminiscing about their homeland. The conversation turned to drink, as it often does in these situations.

They came up with the idea of creating a vodka that would be made by Scottish distillers, using only Scottish barley and Scottish mountain water.

A vodka so refined and so pure needed an entirely new method of distillation. A quintuple micro-distillation technique was invented, just for us.

After months of hard work the idea that began in New York became a reality; VALT Vodka was first distilled on St. Andrew's Day and bottled on the anniversary of Robbie Burns' birthday.

At 5.14 metres (16ft 10 1/4 inches) our stills are the tallest in Scotland. Not to mention the same height as a fully grown adult giraffe! Which means that only the very lightest and purest vapours make it to the top of their long copper necks, giving a smoother, purer and more elegant whisky.

At Glenmorangie we select the finest oak casks in which to mature our whisky. But that's not all, because we then only use each one twice (whilst many others use their up to five or six times), ensuring that the maximum amount of flavour is always extracted during maturation, delivering a rounder, smoother taste.

Breathe it in. This is pure Islay. Where Ardbeg is, has been and always will be made by people genuinely devoted to producing The Ultimate Islay Malt. Ardbeg the whisky is Ardbeg the place, in all its raw natural beauty.

Since 1881, our gentle malt has always started out the same way, with good quality malted barley, clean pure Margadale spring water and a little yeast.

We could try and make out that our whisky is made from superior ingredients than that of other Islay malts but, if you know your malt whisky, you will know that all good whisky starts off the same. What we can tell you is that Bunnahabhain’s gentle taste is so unique because we have never heavily peated our fine malted barley, our natural spring water source has run clear for over one hundred years and our sea facing warehouses provide the perfect environment for maturing our spirit.

Deanston is situated a few miles from the historic town of Stirling in the very heart of Scotland and is our largest distillery. There are no computers used in production as we prefer to rely on the ancient art of distilling and the keen eye of our craftsmen to guarantee quality in every drop of this precious liquid.

Ledaig is a wonderfully distinguished single malt. Not only is it handcrafted in the Tobermory Distillery, the only distillery on the dramatic, colourful Isle of Mull, but it can claim to also be the sole peated malt from this famous 18th century shrine to quality.

The laying in ancient vaults for a full ten years, the superior oak wood casks, the dark, aromatic lochan water from high on the mountains and the malted barley – exclusively peat dried. Together they create a robust and vibrant lighthouse to quality that’s floral and smoky. Un-chillfiltered at 46.3% is a transformation which will delight whisky drinkers.
